My true crime book The Elusive Purple Gang: Detroit’s Kosher Nostra tells the story of the only Jewish gang to dominate the rackets in a large American city during Prohibition 100 years ago. From their meteoric rise to the top of Detroit’s underworld to their ultimate demise, this book is the episodic account of the Purple Gang’s corrosive pursuit of power and wealth and their inevitable plunge towards self-destruction.

My nonfiction account Terror In Ypsilanti: John Norman Collins Unmasked takes a close look into the murders of seven young women who were brutally murdered in Washtenaw County. With the benefit of fifty years of hindsight, hundreds of vintage newspaper articles, thousands of police reports, and countless interviews, this book recounts the murders, recreates the infamous court case, and details Collins years in Jackson and Marquette Branch state prisons.
