We will be adding potential vendors to the VNQ (Vendor Notification Queue).

This is not a guarantee that you will be a vendor, it is just a database of potential vendors. Please fill out the online vendor app if you are interested in being added to the database.

Vendor General Information

We are renting 6-foot long tables. If you wish to sell anything at this event, you must rent a table from us.

This is open to the general community, thus, anyone can rent a table.

This event is indoors and partially outdoors, The event will be held rain or shine.

 

What can you sell at the Detroit Bookfest?

• BOOKS!!!! (ie: used, new, authors, rare, antiquarian, unusual, pulp, first editions, esoterica, curiosa, incunabula, indie, ephemera, etc)
• Vinyl LP records
• Comic Books
• Creative Arts
• Vintage board games (ie: pre-1970)
• Some local non-book related companies may participate on a per case basis

 

How much are tables? 

Tables are 6-feet long and cost $50.00 per table.

This fee is purposely cheap. It is apart of our evolving, ongoing community wellness initiative.

 

Vendors are responsible for bringing:

This event is BYOC (bring your own chairs). Please bring your own CHAIRS.

Also, if you wish, we recommend bringing your own table covers, book display stands, business cards, table banners, cash & change, cash boxes, mobile payment apps on your smartphone (ie: Square, Apple Pay, etc), flyers, pamphlets, etc.

One 6-foot long table offers ample room to be well-stocked, including space for boxes of books under the table.

We recommend you get boxes with good sturdy hand-holes. To transport them, use a dolly with good wheels.

What about security?

Yes, Eastern Market has a private armed security force who patrol the grounds 24-hours a day.

However, neither Detroit Bookfest nor Eastern Market are responsible for any lost, stolen, damaged or otherwise mishandled or misplaced property.

You are 100% responsible for everything.

 

Do Vendors get to keep their money?

Yes, vendors keep 100% of the proceeds from whatever is sold.

We recommend keeping your money in a cash box, cigar box, shoe box, small fireproof safe, etc and bringing enough small bills and change for transactions. We also recommend having a credit card reader on your smartphone for credit card transactions.

Also, use the buddy system! Bring a buddy or two to sit with you at your table. DO NOT leave your table unattended at any time.

 

Will there be music and beer and bathrooms?

YES!

DJ Seven Whales will be dolling out fat gobs of FUNK MUSIC.

BEER will be for sale for 21 & uppers.

There are several BATHROOMS around Eastern Market.

 

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, the password changes quarterly, so we won’t know what it is until the event.

 

Is there an ATM anywhere?

Yes, there is a very conveniently located Flagstar Bank ATM on the north exterior wall of Shed 5. If you are not a member of Flagstar, there is a $2.00 non-member fee per transaction.

There is also an ATM outside of the Chase Bank across the street.

 

Where will the food vendors be located?

Food vendors will be located between Shed 5 and Shed 4.

Shed 4 has a roof but no walls. It is a connector-shed.

 

Repeat Vendors

Due to the variety of unpredictability there is NO GUARANTEE ever of being a repeat vendor.
