The Book Club of Detroit is throwing the 1st Annual Detroit Festival of Books inside Eastern Market’s Shed 5 on Sunday, July 16th, 2017 from 10am-4pm.
Vendor General Information
The Book Club of Detroit is renting 6-foot long tables for ONLY $20.00 per table! If you wish to sell anything at this event, you must rent a table from us.
This is open to the general community, thus, anyone can rent a table.
This event is indoors and partially outdoors, The event will be held rain or shine.
What can you sell at the Detroit Bookfest?
- BOOKS!!!! (ie: used, rare, antiquarian, unusual, pulp, first editions, esoterica, curiosa, incunabula, ephemera, etc)
- Vinyl LP records
- Creative Arts
- Rare musical instruments
- Vintage board games (ie: pre-1970)
- Some non-corporate local companies may participate on a per case basis
Vendors are responsible for bringing:
Your own chairs, table covers, tent canopy, book display stands, business cards, table banners, cash & change, cash boxes, mobile payment apps on your smartphone (ie: Square, Apple Pay, etc), flyers, pamphlets, etc.
6-foot long table offer ample room to be well-stocked, including space for boxes of books under the table.
We recommend you get boxes with good sturdy handles. To transport them, use a dolly with good wheels.
When can Vendors setup?
Sunday, July 16th, 2017 from 8am-10am.
What about security?
Yes, Eastern Market has a private armed security force who patrol the grounds 24-hours a day.
However, neither The Book Club of Detroit nor Eastern Market are responsible for any lost, stolen, damaged or otherwise mishandled or misplaced property.
You are 100% responsible for everything.
When is the actual event?

Do Vendors get to keep their money?
Yes, vendors keep 100% of the proceeds from whatever is sold.
We recommend keeping your money in a cigar box, shoe box, small fireproof safe, etc and bringing enough small bills and change for transactions. We also recommend having a credit card reader on your smartphone for credit card transactions.
Also, bring a buddy or two to sit with you. Do not leave your table unattended at any time.
Will there be music and beer and bathrooms?
DJ Zig-Zag will be spinning funk & miscellaneous records.
Black Lotus Brewery will have beer for sale for 21 & uppers.
There are two bathrooms at each end of Shed 5.
Is there Wi-Fi in Shed 5?
Yes, the password changes quarterly, so we won’t know what it is until the event.
Is there an ATM anywhere?
Yes, there is a very conveniently located Flagstar Bank ATM on the north exterior wall of Shed 5. If you are not a member of Flagstar, there is a $2.00 non-member fee per transaction.
Where will the food and drinks be located?
Food and drinks will be in the parking lot of Shed 5 and in front of Shed 5 on Russell Street.
